The ONA16 schedule is packed with sessions that focus on improving the ways we tell news stories, whether it\u2019s understanding how to make mobile news informative, yet personal, or creating diverse political coverage. Here are some of them:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/personalizedinteractives\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fitting in the News: Creating Personalized Interactives.<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Part of what makes mobile news so unique is that it delivers personalized information to users. <\/span><b>Jere Hester<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, director of news products and projects, <\/span><b>Sandeep Junnarkar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, director of interactive journalism, both from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, and <strong>Kristen Lee<\/strong>, director of digital editorial operations for the New York Daily News<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will guide you through how to create and produce these personalized interactions, which help users form connections to the experiences of others and gives them a deeper understanding of how the news impacts lives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/electionreportinglatinos\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Latinos and the 2016 Election: Reporting on Communities Regardless of Your Background.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0An experiment called\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Noticiero M\u00f3vil provides 2016 election coverage to empower Latinos, funded by an ONA\/Knight Foundation grant. This project involved students speaking at multiple events in the Latino community, leading extensive interviews, surveys, reporting and holding many internal discussions about how to navigate ethnic and cultural diversity. <\/span><b>Jose Olivares,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> journalist and student, and\u00a0<\/span><b>Natalie Van Hoozer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, bilingual reporter, both from Noticiero M\u00f3vil; \u00a0<\/span><b>Kelly Ann Scott<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, executive editor at RGJ Media,\u00a0and <\/span><b>Vanessa Vancour,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> faculty at the Reynolds School of Journalism\/Noticiero M\u00f3vil, will join to reflect on the cultural tensions they experienced and answer questions. Audience members will be able to share their own strategies and successes in diversifying political coverage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/educatorsmeetup\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ONA Educators&#8217; Meetup.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> This informal gathering connects \u00a0journalism educators looking to chat about all things J-school. Want to network with others in advance of the conference? Join over 1,200 members of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/onaedu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ONA Educators Facebook group<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/studentmeetup\/\">Student Networking session<\/a>. Calling all students and recent grads!\u00a0Come meet your fellow student attendees on Friday morning and join an informal group discussion about navigating the conference, networking, and how you can get involved with ONA or start an ONA meetup group on your campus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/tabletalkseducators\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Table Talks: Educators + Students.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Our Table Talks are a chance to meet with industry experts and your peers to tackle the issues related to educators and students you\u2019re most passionate about. Note: Topics will be announced closer to the conference; speakers will not take questions in advance, since these are participatory conversations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New this year: You can ask session speakers questions ahead of time to help shape the conversation. If you\u2019re curious about an emerging trend, want to know more about a topic or are hoping that speakers will dig into something during their session, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ona16.journalists.org\/sessions\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">now\u2019s your chance to post a question<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
