The Online News Association’s 2016 Conference, Sept. 15-17, at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center, will convene the best of digital media — journalists, technologists, designers, executives, educators, students and others looking to network and share innovative ideas.

Join us for exceptional networking opportunities, high-quality sessions with expert speakers, innovative, interactive exhibits and hands-on demos with emerging technology over three high-energy days. ONA16 will close with our prestigious Online Journalism Awards Banquet, which celebrates a year of impactful, creative work in digital media.

Our popular conference has sold out each year for nine years running, so don’t wait! Take advantage of member discounts and our early-bird registration prices, and purchase your ticket and reserve your hotel room as soon as possible.

What to Expect

You’ll have the chance to connect face to face with colleagues from around the globe. You’ll also be able to share emerging ideas from leaders in the field, and gather best practices to adapt for your own reason. You’ll be able to play with emerging technology, and explore the terrific restaurants and other entertainment offered in the downtown Denver area (and let’s not forget the gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains). For first-timers, we have a terrific opening orientation to help you make the most of your three days, and also network to your heart’s content.

Educational Sessions

Our educational programming aims to provide inspiring insights into advancements in journalism, practical tips and best practices for common challenges in digital media, and hands-on workshops and training with emerging digital tools. The majority of our programming comes through public submissions via our Suggestion Box, with selections recommended to ONA by a group of outstanding journalists and educators. See ONA16’s Program Team, who are responsible for helping us shape our conference.

Online Journalism Awards Banquet

On the final night of ONA16, we celebrate excellence in digital journalism around the world at the Online Journalism Awards Banquet. Over the past 15 years, the OJAs have been the only awards that solely honor innovative digital work by major media, international, independent and academic journalists and technologists. Many of the awards come with cash prizes, courtesy of Knight Foundation, the Gannett Foundation and The University of Florida. The banquet provides a relaxed, festive atmosphere — a perfect ending to the conference.
